Large Caps Defy Early Selloff

Tehran stocks were choppy on Monday as many large caps started trade deep in the red but recovered later. 

The main index of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, lost more than 23,000 points in the early selloff but the market-cap weighted index pared losses later buoyed by gains in large caps. 

TEDPIX closed a little above the flatline and gained 1,240 points or 0.1% to end trading at 1,235,798. The equal-weighted index dropped by 1.18% as majority of small stocks declined. 

About 10.54 billion shares valued at 104.4 trillion rials ($453.9 million) changed hands at TSE for the day. Beh Pardakht Mellat was the biggest winner as its shares went up 4.97% to 37,150 rials per share.

International Construction Development Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 8.74% to 3,550 rials per share.

Nouri Petrochemical Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by ‏Khouzestan Steel Company, Tamin Petroleum and Petrochemical Investment Company and Parsian Oil and Gas Development Group Company.

Social Security Investment Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index, followed by Mobarakeh Steel Company, Ghadir Investment Company and the industrial giant Mapna.

Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, lost 95.11 points or 0.52% to close Monday trade at 18,202.45. About 2.43 billion securities valued at 110.06 trillion rials ($478.54m) were traded at the junior exchange for the day.

Arya Sasol Polymer Company, Esfahan Steel Company, Zagros Petrochemical Company and Kowsar Insurance Company had the most negative impact on IFX.

Marun Petrochemical Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company, Minoo Industrial Group Company and Middle East Mines and Mineral Industries Development Holding Company.
